IF YOU MISSED IT | Breakcore

Last Sunday during the Odd Time Signatures session we listened to a track from Venetian Snares in 7/8. One of the students really liked the style *thanks Tim! so it was a great opportunity to explore it this past Sunday.

Breakcore or in it's more modern form - Dreamcore, is a style that emerged in the 90's from the Jungle and Rave scene, this style combine complex glitched out breakbeats, heavy distorted basslines and Reese basses, rapid transitions and techno chords and atmospheres.

It's a super fun and great style to improve your sampling and sound design techniques.

Although this style has a lot in common with IDM (Aphex Twin and Squarepusher; which we will cover in the future), Breakcore is more similar to Ambient Jungle but with more extreme production techniques.

We covered many sampling and sound design techniques including Max for Live, the new Drum Sampler and free glitch plugins you can start using.

This is a beginner friendly style and highly recommend for everyone to check out.

TUTORIAL | Programming House Drums with Selector Kits
